The Lamentations of Jeremiah - Good Friday

This is from 'Tenebrae' which is the prayer of the Church sung on Good Friday. Here we have the Lamentations of Jeremiah at the destruction of Israel following the recalcitrance of the peopleand their refusal to trust and obey God. Symbolically we are the people of Israel, and it is over us that the Lord mourned when He mourned over Jerusalem and when he wept in the Garden of Gethsemene. (comment by Sr Tamsin o.p.)
